Deciding to construct a new building to better suit their needs and current brand image, DuPage Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram engaged Charles River Development and Interwork Architects to implement their vision. Interwork and CRD put Chrysler standards to work while creating a new 37,500 square foot building, customized to the dealership’s workflow, on a 5.9 acre site in Glendale Heights, Illinois.
The building features a large glass enclosed sales showroom, highlighting the Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Ram vehicles displayed within. Additionally, there are both customer and staff support areas, a two-story parts department and a state-of-the-art twenty bay automobile and truck service department.
Leasing the second floor of a former Crate & Barrel at historic Plaza del Lago in Wilmette created unique opportunities and design challenges for NorthShore University HealthSystem and Interwork. The Sheridan Road location has been a destination for north shore patrons since opening as ‘Spanish Court’ in 1928, making it one of the oldest shopping centers in the country. Inserting a modern medical office into this special environment required integrating a pedestrian level entry into the retail frontage and providing accessibility to the second floor
While providing excellent daylight for a retail atmosphere, the existing vaulted roof could not support the weight of building systems (sprinkler piping, HVAC ductwork, light fixtures, etc.). That led the team to integrate a secondary structural platform into NorthShore’s medical office model that supported those necessary systems.
Working with the expert program managers at Integrated Facilities Solutions and project managers at Berglund Construction, Interwork put NorthShore standards to work creating a 10,000 square foot suite suiting the needs of the medical practices relocating to their new lakefront location while maintaining the fabric that makes historic Plaza del Lago unique.
This 10,500 sf Buffalo Grove primary care office for NorthShore University HealthSystem physicians relocated an existing practice to the former site of a local furniture showroom and warehouse. While working with the physicians group to incorporate NorthShore standards, plans evolved to include 24 exam rooms, 3 procedure rooms and offices for 15 physicians. The project was also designed for a future 2,500 sf expansion which includes an additional 8 exam rooms and 2 procedure rooms.
