Moving on their 100th anniversary, the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP) their new headquarters integrates imagery of old drug stores and displays of organizational artifacts with corporate offices, cubicles and breakout areas. NABP’s space tells the story of the organization’s deep tradition while providing a modern, forward looking work place. An old sepia toned photo of a pharmacy used as a lobby wall mural provides a regular reminder of the values that underlie the modern organization. The space is lined with plaques, tributes and art received from the organizations member’s over the years. In addition to interior design, Interwork specified all the furniture and designed custom pieces, developed displays and art installations and helped manage NABP’s move to the new headquarters. Interwork has provided on-going support to remodel the balance of their building and for exterior maintenance at the masonry walls.
Situated on nearly 7-1/2 acres at the edge of a creek, this office park includes almost 2 acres of unbuildable flood plain. Transforming the flood plain into a natural prairie formed a backdrop to the office park and inspired a Prairie Style feel for the buildings. The goal of providing condominium suites as small as 1,500 square feet for small medical practices and entrepreneurial businesses, and up to 9,000 square feet for professional practices led to building sizes of 6,000, 7,500 and 9,000 square feet. The building depth of 50 feet maximizes perimeter window lines, and the operable windows allow natural ventilation, scents of prairie flowers and a connection to the to the surrounding natural setting.
