With over 10 years at Interwork, Arlene provides architectural leadership and support on a variety of Interwork projects including numerous office and medical interiors. In addition to her project assignments, Arlene takes a lead role on some significant accounts including on-going building support for a large office complex, development of prototype interiors for a financial client and multiple assignments for Athletico Physical Therapy. Additionally, Arlene coordinates numerous in-house continuing education programs. Arlene has a Bachelor of Architecture and a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Design from Ball State University.
Joining the Interwork team in 2016, David collaborates on the design of retail and commercial spaces. Proficient in Building Information Modeling, David produces construction drawings and helps develop and implement workflow improvements to increase the efficiency of project delivery. David’s past experience includes single and multi-family housing, commercial and retail spaces, ADA accessible design, and public works facilities. David received his Masters of Architecture from Judson University in Elgin, IL.
A founding partner of Interwork Architects, in 2017 Dave is stepping back from day to day operations of the firm. While no longer at Interwork on a regular basis, Dave is happy to steer you to the right resources to address your architectural, facilities, interior design or commercial real estate needs. He is also available to help with Interwork project history on the multiple buildings he’s worked on throughout the Chicago area.
Joining Interwork in 2013, George leads architectural teams on medical projects – interiors and building renovation – for clients like NorthShore Healthcare as well as office interiors. His attention to detail and technical knowledge developed working on major hospital and med practice facilities fit the complex projects he handles. A proficient Revit user, George also led the overhaul and on-going refinement of Interwork’s BIM/Revit standards, templates and training. A 2006 graduate of the University of Kansas with a Bachelor of Architecture, George was a key member of the nationally recognized and award winning Studio 804 produced Modular 3 house.
Joining Interwork in 2015, Kasia (KAH sha) serves as a key architectural staff member on retail and commercial office projects. Her current work includes developing construction documents and standards for two prototype retail buildings for a national retailer’s expansion program. Prior to joining Interwork, Kasia gained broad experience master-planning mixed-use, theatre, hospitality and residential projects with a focus on adaptive re-use. Kasia holds Bachelor and Master’s degrees in Architecture from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
Since joining Interwork in 2013, Katerina serves either as project architect or staff architect on office, medical and retail interiors as well as new buildings and building renovations. Most recently Katerina has been working on medical office interiors for a key client. She also worked on the team developing a new prototype for a national financial institution and was involved with implementing the first installation in southern Mississippi. Katerina works on Interwork’s BIM/Revit office graphic standards, templates and training. A licensed architect and AIA member, Katerina received her Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture from the Illinois Institute of Technology with a Minor in Construction Management.
With twenty five years of experience in both commercial and high end residential projects, Kathleen coordinates the interior design on a variety of projects. Recent projects have included clubhouse interiors in Illinois, Florida, Indiana and Michigan. Her experience includes three published works. Kathleen’s Bachelor of Science in Interior Design is from the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign.
As part of Interwork’s architectural team, Kyoo has played a significant role on commercial buildings, office interiors including work for Anixter Industries, Athletico Physical Therapy, and PLS Financial Services as well as numerous new clubhouse buildings and interiors across Pulte Del Web’s midwest and southeast regions. His proficiency in Revit is used on digital presentation models and renderings. A former internet entrepreneur Kyoo manages Interwork’s IT infrastructure and provides daily in-house IT support. Prior to earning his Master of Architecture from the University of Michigan, Kyoo was part of the international competition winning design team for the new National Museum of Korea. His undergraduate degree is from Chung-Ang University in Seoul, South Korea.
Marc serves as a Project Architect on a variety of Interwork projects – new buildings, corporate interiors and industrial facilities. A licensed architect and ALA member, Marc brings many years experience in architecture as well as construction and development expertise to Interwork. Marc has a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Illinois Chicago and a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Studies from the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign; he’s also studied at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Versailles.
Following a year-long internship, Marcus joined Interwork full time after receiving his Master of Architecture degree from the Illinois Institute of Technology in June 2017. With plans of pursing his architectural license, he play’s an integral role in providing architectural support and problem solving to a variety of commercial, office, healthcare, and new building projects. His past experience includes work in retail, mixed-use housing, healthcare and graphic design. Marcus has also received a Bachelor’s of Arts in Architecture from Clemson University in South Carolina.
When Mike joined Interwork as a partner in 2001, he formalized a relationship that began in 1996 when he partnered with Interwork on the award winning GE Capital Auto Financial Services facility in Barrington, Illinois. While managing a number of substantial projects and client relationships, Mike has also broadened Interwork’s practice to include recreational clubhouse and wellness facilities. In addition, Mike brings many years of experience on large scale public sector, hospital and educational projects to Interwork. Mike is a licensed architect (NCARB certified) and AIA member and has served on several public commissions and committees – he’s currently on the Highland Park Design Review Commission. Mike has also presented work to the AIA and at various conferences. Mike’s Master and Bachelor of Architecture degrees are from Tulane University.
As a project designer and project manager at Interwork, Nicole provides planning, interior design, furniture specification and architectural support on a variety of office interior projects. She also provides on-going support for facilities and property managers. Nicole manages and maintains Interwork’s interiors library and meets with manufacturer’s representatives to learn more about the latest trending products. Recent work includes updating corporate standards and planning for companies like Anixter Industries and Bosch as well as new corporate headquarters for Aircraft Propeller Services. Prior to joining Interwork, Nicole gained experience in retail planning. A former Bradley Brave, Nicole completed her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design at Harrington College of Design.
A founding partner of Interwork Architects, Rich is responsible for numerous projects and major client relationships. Projects include new office and retail facilities as well as corporate and medical interiors. Current projects include his fourth major project in the transition of an outdated suburban shopping center into a mixed use development with life-style retailing. Rich, a licensed architect (NCARB certified and approved for City of Chicago self-certification) and AIA member, has played a leadership role in public commissions and community activities; one of those activities led to an Interwork project published in Inc. magazine. Rich’s Bachelor of Architecture is from the University of Illinois Chicago.
Interwork’s Office Manager, Robin handles many non-project related issues as well as accounts payable and accounts receivable. Clients, fellow employees, vendors, or consultants all look to Robin for assistance. She recently managed Interwork’s transition to more sophisticated project management and accounting software. Robin’s degree in General Business Administration is from the University of Maryland College Park.
A partner since 2014, Steve has been with interwork since 1996 when he became Interwork’s first full time employee. Steve plays a critical role at Interwork serving as Account Representative or Project Manager for a variety of national (and international) clients. From corporate offices and industrial space to clubhouse facilities for a national developer, Steve has handled projects from northeast Canada to Silicon Valley and south to Mexico. Steve developed an in-house seminar on measuring office buildings per BOMA standards and expanded it for presentation to a key account’s property management staff. Steve has a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the Illinois Institute of Technology.
Susan brings over 20 years experience in Business and Institutional Healthcare to Interwork. Serving as a either Project Architect or Staff Architect, Susan is involved in all phases of project delivery from pre-design and master planning through final construction documents and construction administration. She’s currently managing construction documents for a new medical office building as well as two large medical practice interiors. Her recent experience prior to joining Interwork includes renovation and new construction work on medical office buildings, Radiology/Mammography/Endoscopy suites, Behavioral Health units, medical equipment installations and operating rooms. A Registered Architect and LEED Accredited Professional, Susan received her Bachelor’s Degree in Architectural Studies from the University of Nebraska Lincoln.
Joining Interwork in June 2016, Susan is already managing a 40,000 square foot corporate interior renovation and a small learning center for a religious institution. Susan is a licensed architect (NCARB certified), AIA member and LEED Accredited Professional. Most recently, Susan was project manager for the multi-million dollar renovations of several elementary schools leading a team of clients, architectural staff and consultant engineers from project inception through schematic design and construction documents. She also provided public bidding and construction administration support services to her clients. Additionally, Susan has twelve years’ experience in a wide range of project types including religious, residential, medical and educational. Susan’s Bachelor of Architecture and minor in Architectural History are from Oklahoma State University.
Currently pursuing a Masters in Architecture at Illinois Institute of Technology, Zahida has recently joined the firm as an architectural intern. She has more than twelve years of international professional experience (Abu Dhabi, Botswana and India) in design process, project management and green building design specialization. She is a LEED AP (BD+C) with a project portfolio ranging from residential, commercial, institutional and mixed-use developments. Presently she is a part of the design team providing construction documentation for remodel and new projects for a national retailer.
