Barrington Square Façade Renovation
Retail
Hoffman Estates, IL
200,000 SF
Built in the 1970’s as a hybrid strip center and outdoor mall, Barrington Square's design had not weathered the years well. Beginning in 1997, Interwork Architects designed modifications that opened up dark corners, smoothed circulation patterns, added retail space, removed outdated components and provided better compatibility with its surroundings.
In the most recent phase, transformation to the new “Barrington Square Towncenter”, the design team worked with the owners and local officials to create new auto circulation patterns, re-work outlots and enhance landscaping and drainage. A major façade renovation program incorporating traditional design elements into a vibrant retail streetscape positions Barrington Square to compete with newer retail developments.
